JOIN THE EVENT

Residential education course for hunters who have drawn positions to hunt on Snake Island, Boole Poole or Blond Bay in 2024

Congratulations on being selected in the 2024 Blond Bay Hog Deer Ballot!

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and to help you make the most of it, you are invited to attend the Hog Deer Hunter Education Weekend, hosted by the Australian Deer Association on Sunday Island, Corner Inlet, Victoria, on 18th & 19th January 2025.

The Australian Deer Association has partnered with the Sunday Island (Para Park Cooperative) to deliver the ultimate hog deer hunting education experience.

During the weekend, you'll learn from a range of experts, including Paul Boag, Marine Safety Victoria, the Snake Island Cattlemen Association, the Game Management Authority Victoria, and others.

Topics covered include:

- The legal framework for hog deer hunting
- Boating safety tips and requirements
- The checking station process
- Effective hunting techniques
- Site-specific information for Sunday Island
- Taxidermy and butchery demonstrations

If available, a Hog Deer Stag will be used for several practical demonstrations.

This weekend is designed to deepen your understanding of hog deer biology, hunting methods, and the logistics needed for a successful and enjoyable hunt. You'll also have the chance to network with other hunters drawn for the same ballot period, sharing insights and experiences in a relaxed environment.

What's included:
- Transfers to and from Sunday Island
- Meals throughout the weekend
- Shower and toilet facilities
- Camping (please bring a swag or small tent)

On the island:
- Free water
- Soft drinks available for $2 each
- Beer and cider for $5 a can
- A Hunter’s Raffle with great prizes on Saturday night

Physical Requirements: Participants should be prepared for moderate physical activity during the course. This includes the ability to walk approximately 5 km over sandy, undulating terrain. A reasonable level of fitness is required to ensure your safety and the safety of others throughout the course.

Important: Sunday Island, like much hog deer habitat, can be prone to sandflies, so we recommend wearing long trousers and bringing tropical strength insect repellent.

All of this for just $149 per person.

Friends welcome! Ballot winners are encouraged to invite friends who are also welcome to attend the weekend.
