National Hunting Camps

2026 ADA National Hunting Camps

Here’s an updated version that reflects the current situation while keeping the tone positive and forward-looking:

Join us for the 2026 National Hunting Camps, bringing hunters from across the country together to experience some of Victoria’s premier hunting regions and the camaraderie that makes these camps such a highlight on the ADA calendar.

Following the loss of Shelley Forest Camp in the January bushfires, Camp 1 successfully relocated to the Eildon region earlier this year. For Camp 2, we will be trialling a new location back in the Shelley area, providing members with another opportunity to hunt the region while we continue to assess future camp options and formats.

The Camp 2 site is being used as a temporary solution at this stage due to its limited size and capacity, however we are looking forward to returning to the Shelley region and giving members the chance to once again experience this iconic hunting area.

With four camps scheduled throughout 2026, members can choose the timing and location that best suits them while enjoying quality hunting opportunities and the shared experience of camp life with fellow ADA members.

The next ADA National Hunting Camp will once again return to the Koetong–Shelley district in North East Victoria, following strong interest from previous camp attendees. After recent fires impacted parts of the area and previous venue arrangements changed, Camp 2 for 2026 will now be based at the premises of Murray Valley Taxidermy & Tanning, located at: 1922 Burrowye Road, Koetong VIC

The Koetong–Shelley region offers a rugged mountainous and forested landscape interspersed with open grazing country and pine plantations. The area continues to hold healthy populations of sambar and fallow deer, along with smaller numbers of red deer. While some hunting areas were affected by fires earlier in the year, many blocks remain untouched and continue to provide excellent hunting opportunities.

Camp 2 Dates

5 June – 15 June 2026

Accommodation & Facilities

Due to the smaller venue size, indoor accommodation capacity is strictly limited. The camp can comfortably accommodate 8 hunters per night, with a maximum of approximately 10 hunters if a small number choose to bring swags.

Accommodation is dormitory-style, with most beds located upstairs. All bedding and towels will be supplied.

Facilities available to hunters include:

  • Shared bathroom facilities (single shower and septic toilet)
  • Kitchen and living areas
  • Indoor and outdoor dining areas
  • Outside entertaining area
  • Main fridge and bar fridge
  • Basic meat processing room
  • Indoor wood fire (wood supplied)

Hunters are reminded that the property operates on tank water and limited septic capacity, so consideration for other guests is appreciated.

Overflow Camping

Additional overflow camping is available at the nearby Recreation Reserve. This option is particularly intended for hunters staying only 1–3 nights.

The Recreation Reserve currently offers:

  • Free camping (TBC)
  • Toilet facilities only
  • No showers

Hunters camping at the Recreation Reserve may be able to access cooking and shower facilities at the main camp venue, subject to confirmation and any applicable fee arrangements.

Camp Costs

Indoor accommodation:
$50 per hunter, per night

Additional camping facility fees, if applicable, will be advised for Recreation Reserve campers wishing to access the main accommodation facilities.

Registrations & Bed Allocation

Registrations will continue through the existing ADA online booking process.

Due to the limited indoor accommodation available, bed allocations will be prioritised according to the online registration date. Once indoor accommodation reaches capacity, hunters may be offered alternative arrangements including:

  • Bringing a swag at the main venue
  • Camping at the Recreation Reserve

Members are asked to register only if they are fully intending to attend, as maintaining viable camp numbers is important for the ongoing operation of the venue arrangement.

It is anticipated that only a small number of committee members will be attending Camp 2, ensuring the majority of accommodation remains available to general members.

Hunting Block Allocation

Hunting block allocations will continue to be coordinated based on hunter experience, vehicle capability, duration of stay, and booking timing. Hunters must remain within their allocated hunting areas each day for safety and management purposes.

Whether you are new to deer hunting or a seasoned hunter, the ADA National Hunting Camps remain a fantastic opportunity to experience premier Victorian deer country and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow hunters around the fire after a day in the hills.
