Victorian cabinet reshuffle: increased focus on outdoor recreation
In the wake of Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas’ resignation from Parliament, the Victorian Government has undertaken a cabinet reshuffle in what they hope will be the frontbench that leads them in the November 2026 election.
For recreational deer hunters, the ministers most crucial to their interests are those overseeing Outdoor Recreation, Environment, and Police (responsible for firearms regulations).
In a move that provides continuity for outdoor enthusiasts, Steve Dimopoulos retains his role as Minister for Environment and Outdoor Recreation. At the same time, Anthony Carbines continues as Police Minister, overseeing firearms regulations. A new role of Parliamentary Secretary (assistant minister) for Outdoor Recreation has been created, bolstering the government's focus on Outdoor Recreation. This newly formed position will be held by Ms Luba Grigorovitch (pictured above), a member of Kororoit in Melbourne’s west.
The Australian Deer Association looks forward to continuing to work with the relevant Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to deliver sound, sustainable, long-term, effective policy outcomes regarding wild deer.
