The ADA submission to the National Feral (sic) Deer Plan
Submissions closed for feedback on the draft National Feral (sic) Deer Plan on March 20.
The Australian Deer Association compiled a comprehensive submission that can be found here.
To complement the submission that the ADA made, a public engagement program helped recreational hunters contribute their voice to a management strategy that ignored them and actively sought to demonise deer and undermine their game status where it exists. Despite game status being known not to inhibit their management.
This was a huge success, with over 1,300 individuals adding their voices to the draft feedback.
The plan holds many points of concern; thankfully, stakeholders across the country appear to share those concerns.
As a part of our national advocacy efforts, the association continues to hold conversations with decision-making stakeholders regarding the sound management of wild deer and how pragmatic solutions can deliver outcomes in the appropriate environments.
This is made possible by your support as members.
