New Victorian Opposition Leader announces a new frontbench, which includes a new Public Land Portfolio.
Opposition Leader Brad Battin has unveiled his new shadow cabinet following his appointment as the new opposition leader on 27 December 2024.
Of particular interest to recreational deer hunters is the establishment of the Public Land Management portfolio, to be helmed by National Upper House MP Melina Bath.
According to Nationals Leader Danny O’Brien, the new portfolio will focus on managing public land and “opposing new national parks and ensuring we keep public land accessible to the public.”
This stance aligns with Ms Bath's longstanding position, as she has consistently opposed the establishment of new National Parks and is currently championing an upper house petition to halt the creation of additional national parks in Victoria.
Other key appointments include Brad Rowswell MP as the new shadow minister for the Environment, while the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party, Sam Growth MP, assumes the role of shadow minister for Outdoor Recreation.
