Hound hunting and Waterfowl Identification tests in Victoria
4 February 2022
Summer ends in just over three weeks, and hunting season is nearly upon us. 2022 promises a far less interrupted hound hunting season. We are also confident that the Victorian Government will announce a full length (or very close to full length) duck season for Victoria in the coming days. If you have ever wanted to try either (or both) of these exciting forms of game hunting, then your preparation starts now.
To get ready for the game hunting seasons in Victoria, the Game Management Authority has released several dates for testing for both Hound Hunting and Waterfowl (Duck) Hunting.
The ADA has consistently advocated for all testing to be available via accredited third parties (such as outdoors shops and hunting organisations), just like Firearm Licence testing and NSW R-Licence testing is (along with a range of other licences such as marine and motorcycle). Whilst we acknowledge and welcome the greatly improved availability of testing from GMA this year, we will continue to push for more consistent and flexible testing arrangements to alleviate unnecessary barriers to entry for both intrastate and interstate hunters.
To book a Waterfowl Identification Test, you will first be required to complete some basic, free online education modules.
