Are you a keen deer enthusiast interested in becoming a long-term scorer? This intensive two-day course is for committed ADA members who are prepared to study beforehand and contribute as scorers into the future.
Places are limited to six participants.
The course runs for two full days, covering lectures on all species, individual scoring of each species and terminology tests.
Study information will be sent to participants one month before the course. Extensive study before attending is essential.
Participants must also bring a collection of deer heads to score over the weekend.
We are seeking ADA members with a strong interest in deer who are willing to commit to scoring over the long term and undertake the preparation required.
The Douglas Score measures and evaluates the antlers, horns and tusks of big game animals by symmetrical size.
Devised by the late Norman Douglas, it was first used to judge trophy entries at the Waikato Branch of the New Zealand Deerstalkers Association (NZDA) on 25 June 1949. ADA formally adopted it as its official measuring system.
