2025 Branch Hunt

The mountains are calling!

Planning is underway for the ACT & Snowy Mountains Branch’s first public land hunt for 2025.

Who: All branch members – new hunters highly encouraged to attend!

What: Coordinated group hunt in one of NSW’s Premier State Forests offering well-established populations of Fallow, Sambar and Red deer.

Where: Bondi State Forest.

When: 3pm Friday 25th July to 12pm Sunday 27th July

Why:

• Meet other branch members
• Spend time in the bush
• Potentially fill your freezer
• Support the ADA and public land use through the pursuit of hunting
• Enjoy time around the campfire with likeminded folks

Must Have

• Safe firearm handling
• Relevant licences – state firearm and NSW R Licence
• Written Permission to hunt Bondi State Forest
• Basic hunting equipment including cold and wet weather gear. Bondi is a semi-Alpine climate, on some occasions there could be snow.
• Bed sheets, blanket or sleeping bag and pillow.

Nice to Have

• 4WD or AWD vehicle – please advise the Hunt Coordinator if you have a 2WD vehicle.

Venue

• Accomodation costs $40 per person per night
• Shower and toilet amenities are available
• There are beds available within the cabins all individuals are responsible for their own bedding
• The hunt will be conducted from the Bondi Forest Lodge
• No pets allowed at the lodge
• There is the possibility of snowy and stormy weather.
• New hunters are encouraged provided they have the confidence and experience to safely handle firearms in the field.
• Family and friends are welcome – please contact the Hunt Coordinator on an individual basis regarding any family or friends who may want to attend, and how they may be accommodated at the Branch Hunt.

The branch hunt is a great opportunity for hunters new to the branch to socialise and learn from fellow hunters. Although no formal hunting education is planned, the evening campfire stories have opportunities to build new friendships with other members and also offer the occasional nugget of wisdom.

The intended base-camp will be Bondi Forest lodge. Located on Buldah road.
