Why Facebook rewards the anti’s for you setting them straight
What you see on Facebook and what order you see it in is not a matter of pure timing and chance.
Facebook is a business that makes money from advertising. That relies on you viewing – put simply, the longer and more often you view and the more you engage, the more money Facebook makes. Facebook also faces competition from other social media platforms. To ensure that Facebook works as well as it can for Facebook, it runs a powerful algorithm which determines what you see and when you see it – it’s all designed to keep you logging on more often and for longer periods of time.
The more you (or other hunters) comment on a post, the more likely it, and similar posts, are to appear in your newsfeed (and the newsfeeds of other hunters and the broader public) – the more you share content, the more prominent that creators content becomes.
This means that when you engage with, comment on and share pro-hunting stories, you are helping to ensure that message becomes more attractive to more people and the Facebook algorithm “serves” it to more and more users.
The same happens when you comment, share or otherwise engage with anti-hunting stories.
When you engage with the antis on Facebook…even to correct or dispel their propaganda, you are helping them to reach more people. You are far better off finding a pro-hunting story that makes the case and engaging with that.
