The Australian Deer Association has advocated for the review of the regulations to be bought forward to 2021 so that the conditions that govern hunting are not caught up in the cut and thrust of an election year. We are conducting a survey of hunters to inform our early input to this process.
Before renewing regulations, the Government will engage in wide ranging consultation with all stakeholders, including a formal submission process.
Deer hunters are the largest single stakeholder group in this process, so it is important that we work productively from the outset to ensure that any changes are appropriate, workable and ultimately deliver benefits for the community, for game management and for hunting. Our aim is to ensure that the 'new' regulations have all of the right settings to enable deer hunting to continue to grow.
The game regulations are one part of the regulatory jigsaw governing hunting in Victoria. Broadly they cover the “who, what, when and how” of hunting rather than the “where and why”.
This survey is not exhaustive, nor is it neccesarily reflective of ADA policy or positions – it is the beginning of what will be a comprehensive consultation process for ADA and it presents an opportunity for hunters to shape our collective thinking on this from the earliest stages.
No personal information will be collected by this survey.
