The Great Outdoors taskforce has been allocated funding in an otherwise slender budget for outdoor recreation.
The taskforce, unveiled on April 1st, is proactively exploring ways to “support more Victorians and visitors to explore the great outdoors, protect biodiversity, and create new recreation opportunities.”
Following positive comments made on ABC Radio on the day of the announcement by Minister Dimopoulos, he indicated the possibility of new hunting areas.
Whilst this is certainly not a commitment, it is a positive reflection of the intent through which this task force and the prism through public land and outdoor recreation are being viewed.
Further, the Victorian State Budget reiterated that the task force would recommend to the government regarding areas of state forest suitable for recreational opportunities such as hunting.
This is a critical time in shaping the future of recreational hunting on public land, and the Australian Deer Association will continue to advocate on behalf of Victoria's 51,000+ recreational deer hunters to deliver the best outcomes possible and appreciates your support.
