OUR STRATEGIC PILLARS

COMMENT

Continuing the work that began with the valuable lessons taught to the Australian Deer Association (ADA) by Brian Murphy (CEO of the then Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA), now National Deer Association) in 2014, of modernising the ADA to be a contemporary and relevant organisation focused on delivering on its mission, the ADA has developed a set of strategic pillars to guide its operations into the future.

These pillars build upon our first-ever strategic plan, which was a crucial building block and oversaw significant growth in membership and organisational maturity of the ADA between 2019 and 2024. This enables ADA to better address the increasingly complex world of wild deer in Australia and to become the relevant organisation that it is today, a respected stakeholder that conducts itself in a professional, apolitical manner, contributing facts and evidence to inform and shape public policy regarding wild deer and leading the fight for public land access for recreational deer hunting.

Over the past several years, we have witnessed an increase in the spread of rhetoric and misinformation, as well as attempts to politicise the issue of wild deer in Australia. This is unlikely to stop, and places greater value on our advocacy efforts and their evidence-based foundation.

These three strategic pillars were formed based on our previous strategic plan, regular engagements with branches and members, our mission, and the broader political environment in which the ADA operates. They position the ADA to carry out its mission effectively moving forward.

Our three strategic pillars are:

Advocacy

    Deer Management

      Education & Research

With your ongoing support, we will continue to deliver results and sustainable policy outcomes for Australian wild deer now and in the future.
