The ABC is reporting that two nude sunbathers have been fined $1,000 for breaching COVID-19 public health orders after being startled by a deer and becoming lost in the Royal National Park.
The men, who are aged 30 and 49, became lost within the Royal National Park in Orford, south of Sydney.
Police were told they became spooked by a deer while sunbathing (presumably it was the men sunbathing, not the deer).
After becoming lost in the surrounding bushland, the State Emergency Services (SES) and a police helicopter were sent out to help in the rescue operation, which ended at 6:00pm on Sunday.
NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said the situation was "embarrassing" given the seriousness of the lockdown as the outbreak today grew to 130 cases with 18 new infections.
"It's difficult to legislate against idiots," Commissioner Fuller said.
"Not only did they require assistance from SES and police to rescue them, they also both received a ticket for $1,000."
