The Victorian government has begun the process to receive feedback on the Plan for Victoria's new animal care and protection laws.
These laws will ultimately replace the current Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986.
Feedback received in this process will be reviewed and used to inform the development of the draft legislation.
It is pleasing to note, that the minister has specifically identified that the intent of the new laws is not to prevent lawful activities such as hunting, fishing & farming.
Amongst the 95-page document, some points have been noted and flagged already with the minister's department, however, as per usual, the deer people will make a detailed submission on the matter.
The feedback window closes on October 16th 2022.
The Engage Victoria website allows members to make their own submissions here.
