Home from the Hill - Les Christian

None

There are few family dynasties in deer hunting as storied as the Christian family of West Gippsland.

The family patriarch, Les Christian, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2020 aged 96 years.

Les was a legend in his many fields of endeavour – as a bushman, logger, businessman, hunter, deer farmer, traveller, fisherman, forester, conservationist, philanthropist and family man.

The Australian Deer Association pass on our condolences to Maren, Rob, Peter, Tim and all of Les’ Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren and many friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held tomorrow (Wednesday 28 October) at the Neerim Lawn Cemetery at 11am subject to COVID restrictions and will be live streamed at https://www.nielsenfunerals.com.au/lesliechristian

Under the wide and starry sky,

Dig the grave and let me lie.

Glad did I live and gladly die,

And I lay me down with a will.

This be the verse you grave for me:

Here he lies where he longed to be;

Home is the sailor, home from the sea,

And the hunter home from the hill.

Robert Louis Stevenson
