The public land hog deer ballot (Blond Bay ballot) was drawn last night at Bairnsdale. The draw was streamed live on Facebook and Instagram for hopeful hunters from across the country and internationally.
Speaking on behalf of the Blond Bay Hog Deer Advisory Group, Barry Howlett thanked everyone who entered the ballot – “this is a tangible demonstration of the great support that hunters have for these unique opportunities” Mr. Howlett said “the (advisory) committee administer the ballot process on a fully voluntary basis. It’s is run by hunters, for hunters”
The hunts all take place on public land. “It couldn’t happen without great support from the land managers and agencies and other key stakeholders” Mr. Howlett continued “the Game Mangaement Authority, Parks Victoria, DELWP and the Gippsland Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation and the Snake Island Cattlemen’s Association all interact with us positively and productively to ensure that the hunts are all safe and sustainable.”
