Further delays to the Wildlife (Game) Regulations 2012 remake

None

On Monday afternoon the Victorian government advised the Australian Deer Association of a further twelve-month delay to the remaking of the Wildlife (Game) regulations.

The advice provided was that this was "to allow further policy development to occur". A somewhat open statement, however, this outcome had been apparent as we approach the Victorian State Election in November.

You may recall that previously the association advocated for the review of the regulations to be brought forward into 2021, in order to separate any election issues from this piece of legislation.

Deer hunters are the largest single stakeholder group in this process, and as the Deer People we submitted a detailed report on the Game Regulations.

What this means for you:

The current game regulations stay in place for a further twelve months

This is not the first time a State Election has affected a review process

The Deer People will continue to advocate effectively for changes that will deliver benefits for the community, game management, and for public land access.
