Fair go for Utes - Petition to make toll rates fair

None

As The Deer People we either own a ute or have friends of the family that own several of them.

When accessing public land pursuing our passion, or trucking the kids around town, owning a four-wheel-drive ute is essential in many of our day-to-day lives.

Unfortunately, Melbourne toll road operators for Citylink and EastLink, have different rates for light commercial vehicles, which includes utes, as opposed to four-wheel-drive wagons. This applies whether a vehicle is privately owned or not. Compared to driving a wagon, it is 46 per cent more expensive for a casual ute user to drive on CityLink.

There is currently a petition on the Victorian parliament website that is requesting for the Legislative Council to call on the Government to right this wrong.
