Agriculture Minister sets the record straight

None

Mary-Anne Thomas, the Minister for Agriculture and Regional Development has today written to The Weekly Times to put to bed misinformation that has recently been spread on the back of the Government's Agricultural Legislation Amendment Bill 2022, which recently passed the Victorian parliament with bi-partisan support.

As previously highlighted in Austdeer there were no material changes or amendments that would prevent people from harvesting and consuming their sustainable wild food.

It was heartening to note the Minister highlighted the government's track record of providing more flexible processing arrangements and reiterated the government's commitment to growing the economic, environmental and social benefits of responsible, sustainable and safe hunting via the Sustainable Hunting Action Plan.

The Australian Deer Association will continue to advocate strongly to ensure that this is achieved, via the current SHAP and its grant program.
