Aerial surveys commence in Tasmania

None

Tasmanian Country is reporting that the aerial survey of Tasmania’s fallow deer herd has commenced.

The survey is being conducted by EcoKnowledge under a contract with the Department of Primary Industries.

It will cover a mix of private and public land where the wild deer are thought to be most abundant and will continue until the beginning of October.

Having robust contemporary population data will help Tasmania to manage fallow deer to minimise negative impacts and to maximise the economic, social and environmental benefits of hunting.
