Residential education course for hunters who have drawn positions to hunt on Snake Island, Boole Poole or Blond Bay in 2023
Congratulations on being drawn in the Blond Bay ballot for the 2023 hog deer season.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and to give you every chance to make the most of it, you are invited to attend the official Hog Deer Hunters Education Weekend hosted by the Australian Deer Association, held on Sunday Island, Corner Inlet, Victoria, on 20th & 21st of January 2024.
The Australian Deer Association has teamed up with Sunday Island (this private cooperative owns the island) to provide you with the best possible hog deer hunter education you can have.
On Sunday Island, you will learn from experts such as Paul Boag, Marine Safety Victoria, The Snake Island Cattlemen Association, the Game Management Authority Victoria, and more.
There will be presentations covering the following:
The legal framework,
Boating safety,
The checking station process,
Hunting techniques,
Site-specific information,
Taxidermy and butchery.
If available, a Hog Deer Stag will be used for several demonstrations.
Attending this education course will increase your knowledge of the biology, hunting methods, and logistics required for a successful and enjoyable hog deer hunt.
The weekend will also provide an excellent opportunity to connect with other hunters drawn on the same period, share ideas and socialise.
Transfers and meals are included in the price; please also bring a swag/small tent to sleep in. Shower and toilet facilities are also provided on the Island.
Water is free on the Island, soft drinks $2, and Beer and Cider $5.00 a can.
There will be a Hunter’s Raffle on Saturday evening for your chance to win great prizes.
Sunday Island, as is most hog deer habitat, is sand fly prone, so wear long trousers and bring Tropical Strength insect repellent.
All of this for only $149 per person.
We encourage ballot winners to invite any of their friends, who are more than welcome to attend.
Don't hesitate to contact Paul at events@austdeer.asn.au if you have any questions.
