The NSW Hunter Education Course follows similar content as the VIC course, with a ‘NSW flavour’. Attendees will leave the course with a solid understanding of deer hunting in Australia and NSW specifically.
Run by a team of volunteers from the ADA Sydney Branch, we want to pass on what we know to help others on their journey with deer hunting. Volunteers have a variety of experience and all bring different perspectives and expertise to share.
Hosted at the fantastic Mt Keira Scout Camp (near Wollongong), you’ll feel like you’ve walked into a hunting lodge when you enter the room.
We will cover a broad range of topics including:
Sessions will be a variety of presentations, demonstrations, and time outdoors, with plenty of time for discussion and questions.

Everyone gets something out of this course.
Past attendees have ranged from complete novices, who have never hunted before, through to experienced hunters who want to learn more about deer specifically, refresh their skills, or have hunted internationally and want to understand more about hunting in Australia.
Feedback from past participants is that the weekend is great value and has generally exceeded expectations.
You do not need to have a firearms license or an R license to attend.
The course is across 2.5 days, with arrivals and registrations kicking off at 5:30pm on Friday 9th August 2024. Our first session starts at 6:30pm on Friday night. We will wrap up around 1pm on Sunday 12th August 2024.
The course is fully residential and fully catered.
We’re not camping this weekend; accommodation is bunk room style, participants just need to bring pillow & sleeping bag (or similar).
If you leave on Sunday afternoon hungry, you just didn’t try hard enough. A great group of volunteers in the kitchen ensures that everyone is kept well-fed and watered throughout the weekend.
Please note as we have evening sessions and early starts, we don’t offer a non-residential option.
NB: special dietary requirements can be discussed, please reach out to work through.
