A return to Stage 3 lockdown restrictions in Victoria will impact hunting and the return to meetings and events for two of the ADA's largest branches.
The announcement by Premier Andrews this afternoon that Metropolitan Melbourne (including the Mornington Peninsula) and Mitchell Shire would return tomorrow (Wednesday 8 July) to Stage 3 lockdown restrictions for six weeks will mean a halt to deer hunting for tens of thousands of licensed deer hunters who live in the localities subject to the lockdown. This is due to travel restrictions - it is important to note that there are no activity restrictions on hunting and fishing.
It will also delay a staged return to face to face meetings and events at two of ADA's largest branches (Melbourne and Westernport). We will contact members who have registered for this weekends deer management accreditation shoot as we have firm information there.
This is a fluid situation, as we have noted since the beginning of the COVID-19 situation, the one certainty is uncertainty.
