Aerial baiting in Victorian Alps

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) have advised of an aerial baiting program for wild dog control in the Victorian Alps using meat based 1080 poison baits.

DELWP have stated that the poisoning will occur from 6 May 2019 through to 19 June 2019. The baits will not be collected at the conclusion of the program.

1080 is particularly lethal for canines and a number of the baiting transects are in State Forest where hunting with Scent Trailling Hounds and Gundogs typically occurs.

Through the program baits will be dropped in transects at Bindi, Bucklehead, Burrowa, Wabba and Wonnangatta & Punchein Budweid.

Hunters are advised to familiarise themselves with the baiting notice and maps of baiting transects.

Contact details for DELWP personnel are included on the notice.
