Sustainable Hunting Action Plan

The Sustainable Hunting Action Plan (SHAP) is a $5.3 million investment that supports and guides the game hunting industry's long term growth.

The SHAP takes a common sense approach to ensuring the long term sustainability of hunting in Victoria and concentrates on practical actions that maximise benefits for the environment, the economy, and the whole Victorian community. The SHAP's vision is that all Victorians will gain from growing the economic, environmental and social benefits of responsible, sustainable and safe hunting, now and into the future.

This vision is realised through the delivery of 22 clear and measurable actions that align with the Victorian Government's expectations and the SHAP's four objectives of:

  • promoting responsible hunting
  • growing hunting's benefits
  • improving hunting opportunities
  • ensuring sustainable hunting

The current SHAP operates until 2020 but the Andrew's Government has already committed to another four year plan.
