Early easing of Stage two restrictions a Queens Birthday bonus for Tasmanian hunters

The Tasmanian Government today announced an early easing of Stage Two COVID-19 restrictions, bringing welcome relief to Tasmanian hunters ahead of the Queens Birthday long weekend.

Premier Gutwein announced this morning that, based on public health advice, the easing of Stage Two restrictions will be brought forward and come into effect at 3.00pm on Friday 5 June.

Primary Industries Minister Guy Barnett was quick to point out what this good news means for Tasmanian outdoors-people. "Today’s announcement that anglers, boaties, shack owners and hunters can travel outside their home municipality for recreational trips from 3pm this Friday is great news. Thanks you all for your patience during the COVID-19 restrictions. Protecting Tasmanians is our highest priority - social distancing and common-sense are very important."

Changes to Tasmania's antlerless deer season this year highlight the important role that hunters can play in conservation.
