About
Welcome to the Gympie Mary Valley Branch. Membership numbers around 40 - 55 with members spread from far north Queensland to central southern Victoria.
Branch meetings are held six times a year on Saturday evenings at member's residences somewhere between Imbil, Blackbutt and Kingaroy. Recently we have moved away from the traditional general meeting format to a management committee meeting followed by a report to those gathered. This has allowed more time for demonstrations, swapping stories or just socialising and has proven to be very popular. There are a large number of books and videos available for loan from our branch library.
Active members generally live within the Red Deer range and are therefore able to hunt regularly. Their many experiences are readily shared at meetings and other gatherings throughout the year. The opportunity to join members on a Sambar hunt to Victoria usually occurs a few times each year.
Branch Awards are presented each year for the Best Red, Fallow and Sambar Deer as well as a Junior Red Award for the youngsters. An Overseas Award is also presented to the member voted to have taken the best overseas trophy. Our Photographic Competition has two categories: Live Free-Roaming Deer and General Hunting Interest. The Branch Red Deer Roaring competition is always a lot of fun |
