Australian Deer Magazine

The Australian Deer Association Inc. produces the prestigious journal Australian Deer to keep members up-to-date with developments in the deer scene, both in Australia and overseas. Australian Deer is published six times each year and is distributed free to members; it is not available from newsagents or other outlets. 

If you are a hunter and want to:

  • Learn more about hunting deer,
  • Keep track of the ‘Top 50’ trophy listings for all of Australia’s deer species,
  • Learn about or become involved in deer management and deer research,
  • Keep abreast of political developments that may impact on firearms ownership and the future of our deer,
  • Read reviews of hunting equipment, books and DVDs by recognised experts,
  • Learn what is happening at branch, state or nationally in the deer scene,
  • Advertise and buy or sell hunting or deer-related items,

These are all good reasons why you should be a member of the Australian Deer Association Inc. and receive Australian Deer!

 

Australian Deer Contributions
 
The Editorial Panel which produces Australian Deer welcomes freelance contributions on all aspects of deer hunting and deer management, including book reviews, articles and technical papers. We also welcome items on other outdoor activities such as fishing and the hunting of species other than deer. If requested, payment will be made at our usual rates. Material should be submitted by email or posted to 2 Mills Street, Maffra 3860. Submitted photographs should preferably be prints, or alternatively, digital photographs of at least one megabyte. Suggested photograph captions should be included with the text or with the photographs. Any cover photographs submitted must be of wild, free-ranging deer. Owners of cover photographs will receive a $50 payment if this is requested.

Australian Deer Association Inc. committees, at branch, state and national levels as well as state and national agencies are encouraged to contribute at regular intervals to Australian Deer to keep members up to date on developments in the deer scene and in the Association. The National Executive subsidises advertising by branches, states and agencies; please enquire about conditions.

Deadlines for submission of material are:

  • January 1 for February issue
  • February 20 for April issue
  • April 20 for June issue
  • June 20 for August issue
  • August 20 for October issue
  • October 20 for December issue

Australian Deer provides access for advertisers to a large number of the most committed deer hunters in Australia and its advertising rates are extremely competitive.
